I avoid grazing at the buffet table or sitting near the snack trays. Allways take a (small) plate, pick your treats and enjoy!

@A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member,
Do you have guests for dinner that often, if your answer is no then don't worry about self control. Having heart disease is not a punishment for the rest of your life, nor does it make us less human. Even if you have people over once a month is not enough damage to throw food away. It's when you do things like that that takes away from your self control. I shot up my cholesterol levels in one area when I was last tested and what I'd eaten was the direct cause. I am a native from the Eastern Shore of Virginia and we eat large amounts of shell fish. I'd been to Twisted Crab two weeks in a row for my favorite seafood boil, snow crab, lobster tail, shrimps, corn on the cob and potatoes. Enough for two days then took a cholesterol test that Monday. I'm getting my fill before the season is over.
But that doesn't mean I have high cholesterol and doctors do understand. We don't alway think about what we just ate when asked to take a test. Give yourself a break.

Yes, doing it in moderation is always good. I also agree that depriving yourself is not good for the mind. Really it's just extra added unnecessary stress. A little won't hurt you and your mind will thank you. 😁

Moderation, a few bites instead of the whole cookie... lolol. If you deprive yourself of anything you love to eat you become resentful and angry, feeling sorry for yourself. This state of mind for me is not a place I want to live in.❤️
