May I Donate My Pacemaker To A Vet To Use In A Dog?

A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question 💭
Reynoldsburg, OH

I received a regular 2-lead pacemaker a year ago. My heart has gotten weaker and now I need a biventricular pacemaker. I'm waiting on a call to let me know the surgery date. Somewhere I heard that a used pacemaker can't be donated for use in another human but can be used for an animal. If my 1 year old pacemaker can help a dog, I would love that. Has anyone on MyHeartDisease Team ever done that or heard about a case? How do I go about making arrangements to donate this pacemaker?
