I Was Told That I Have An Ascending Aortic Aneryism That Is 4.5 Cm And I Have 3 Leaky Heart Valves

Mercer, PA

I was told that I have an ascending aortic aneryism that is 4.5 cm and I have 3 leaky heart valves. My regular cardioligist told me not to worry, I have cardiac mri's every year to monitor these things, I only go to see him 2 times a year. The last time I went, I had his PA, instead of him, she told me with all of these these, that I should not lift more than 50 pounds. I have been going to this cardioligist since 2004. he never told me that I have a weight restriction, but his PA, said I had… read more

OK soooo, your complaint is your PA told you Something that could save your life and this is issue ? or that your cardiologist DIDNT bother to tell you..... I see This is an Old post BUT for anyone else Just because You see a doctor for 20 years doesn't mean he is out to screw You over BUT one has to think WHAT is IN MY best Interests ??? 3 HEART Valves are messed Up and You have an "large" Aortic Aneurysm which could explode at any moment (especially Under stress such as Straining lifting free weights or even straining while Defecating on a rough day. The Problem with many Cardiologists who are in areas where the hospitals are Less large scale is that IF the time comes And YOu in a less then Metro area then likely You wont survive an Emergent Dissection... I lived 15 Minutes away from MY state's Largest Trauma center and "teaching" hospital within ten minutes of being Paged 5 minutes prior to My arrival My trauma team was ready to Meet me in the OR when they did MY Blood pressure was only 60/30 I was already dieing.... Had MY ride been 28 minutes Away I would not Be typing this... in 12 years I've had 4 Interventional cardiologists, I have an ElectroPhysiologist who has studied Arythmias of the heart such as Afib, and so on I have had 2 Cardiothoracic Surgeons and 3 CardioVascular Surgeons as Part of MY team MY 1st Cardiologist came to my attention as someone who was taking care of Numerous folks I knew But In fairly quick time I found he was OLD experienced( Yes) but stubborn and I should shut up and do what he said No Matter when I knew was best for me SO I fired his ass and yep he is still practicing and getting Money for doing nothing , I've survived 12 years and I am quite well despite him.. Sometimes You need to account for your self and your own well being.... I doubt he neglected to tell you things But Unless you engage them many doctors wanna talk for 2 minutes Get the 450 dollars and go to the next 450 dollars, if You pass there will be another ... I have an aortic root anyuerism and the limit on my lifting is 50 lbs. Its 3.6 cm X. 4.1 cm which isn't large enough to require surgery.

The PA is absolutely right. Lifting weights puts stress on your cardiovascular system. My, and my husband's Cardiologists restrict lifting. In my husband's case it was no more than 20 lbs.
