Stents
Anyone here get there stents checked if so how often and Wat test.
I've never heard of checking stents just to be checking. I have 22 and none have been restented. I agree they need a reason to take a look.
Juli I have one stent in 2012 hopefully no more , it's a frightening experience but as time goes on it gets a bit easier xx
My same stent in my lower LAD is the only stent to block up. I have 3. 2 on the left. 1 on the right. And I feel it blocking up. I feel if you know your body you'll sense the change. I've had 6 angioolasties and 6 of them to clear out that one stent. They don't take them out and surgeons are not fond of stenting inside a stent to reopen cause it creates to much "hardware" for them to work around, by chance you can get a by-pass later on down the road.
My doctor said there's no real way to check "my" stents checked except via a heart cath. A nuclear stress test may tell something about them to other patients but I'm not sure because the tests have given me a false negative. I have 13 stents, two of which keep closing up and have to be re-stented, and I can normally tell by shortness of breath if I need to go back for a cath.
I have 7 stents including 2 restents from over 20 years ago. Surgeons don’t like going in to check on stents as any heart invasive procedure can be dangerous. Getting quite used to chatting to the surgeon while he is inside my heart, it all seems so matter of fact.
