What Is The Best Diet For Losing Weight?

My heart surgeon said the Mediterranean diet, but it can get spendy and I can't have seafood. Yet I am diabetic as well and that diet can be too restrictive on some things. I really need to lose weight sooner than later. I have a lot of back pain that goes down my let into my foot. I can't have surgery to fix it so I just started physical therapy very gentle movements as not to aggravate the back and leg. I have tried best I can to maintain a healthy diet but not being able to walk like I use to… read more

I've dropped a bit over 37 pounds in a little over 2 months, and have mostly eaten as much as I wanted, but carefully controlled WHAT I ate, in that the sodium count for the day is under 500mgs, and often under 300mgs. I strongly suspect my liquid restriction has taken most all of that 37 pounds off me, as that would be around 4.5 gallons of water, and drowning was my most immediate issue 2 months back. 15 pounds or so of it came off in the first 3 days with the help of lasix, but no liquid restriction, other than that I wasn't consuming even quite as much as I wanted, figuring that they hadn't mentioned it, but lots of intake couldn't be a good thing in a case of CHF. Controlling my sodium and liquid intake seems to be a good formula for weight control, ... but I should add that my waistline hasn't changed a lot yet, even with the dramatic drop in the number of pounds I carry. Hence the reason I think most of it was fluid, which I figure weighs, like water, a bit over 8 pounds per gallon.

I've been doing keto since July and have lost about 20 pounds. It's slow for me others have lost alot more but I'm happy with my loss! Both of my Drs are ok with it I also have diabetes and heart disease. Within the 1st month I was off my insulin! Other meds were cut in half.
Keto is basically cutting carbs or eat less than 20 carbs a day and cutting out sugar. You can eat most all meats and all kinds of fish. And tons of veggies. just no breads rice potato's or veggies that grow in the ground. There are a lot of books and Facebook's groups to help with information.
And just Google keto you'll find lots of recipes some really good some not so much!!! Good luck hope you are heart healthy πŸ’–

eating a proper diet takes a lot of discipline , sometimes thinking that "just this once" won't hurt me , could be a grave mistake .

D2014, I've started a new way of eating: in the morning after brushing your teeth, drink 8 oz of water. Then you eat only when you are really hungry whatever you want, but only eat until you are full, not stuffed. Chew very slowly and take at least 25 minutes to eat. Drink 8 glasses of water during the day. You can put a slice or 2 of oranges in the water. Try not to eat sugar, and of course, little amount of salt. There's no breakfast, lunch or dinner, only when you're very hungry. I've lost 13 lbs, but sometimes I find it hard not to eat sugar !! Try this and see if it works for you, but check with your doctor.
