Barnstable Town, MA

Just diagnosed with sleep apnea and wondering if a stress test might be useful to assess any heart damage from undiagnosed years of having this issue

Thx Wayne,
I have been told that the sleep apnea is caused by fart layers and poor muscle tone in neck area and so when I sleep those structures collapse into the airway and smother my breathing which then jolts my heart into action to wake me! My hypertension probably related!
Will be looking into getting a stress test soon to assess any issues. I do use my fitness watch which is a big help because it shows my Spo2 levels while I sleep and I can big drops at night and my heart rate increases in response.
So still in process of trying to work with dr
Thx again
Bob

Hi I also have sleep apnea and use a Cpap machine caused by overweight and an enlarge heart/ CHF some 20 years ago. first of all my question would be to the sleep apnea expert what is the underlying cause of ur sleep Apnea? You may suffer from poor cardiovascular health. You have to find that out. The stats I’ve been told are sleep disorders are Found in 43-83% with people who have cardiovascular disease 35% with people who have high blood pressure and 12% - 53% of people with atrial fibrillation and stroke. Research estimate that untreated sleep apnea may risk if dying from heart by 5x. I hope that helps you out. As you know everyone is different and have different situations !! Good luck and keep me posted keeping u in my prayers
