Those Of You With Afib,do You Eventually Get Used To The Beta Blocker Med?

Was just recently diagnosed with afib, currently on atenolol after trying metopolol and it not agreeing with me. Things are better with atenolol, but still some dizziness. Does it get better? Thanks

I was on metroprolol for a short time after being diagnosed with AFIB in 2019. According to heart monitor it didn’t slow the heart rate enough so then I was prescribed Sotalol. As far as side effects metropolol didn’t give me any that I noticed. Sotalol makes me very tired although it does control my heart rate. I still force myself to exercise and do what I need to do but it kind of takes the pleasure out of it.
I too am very frustrated with that part of it. The side effects of these medications are life changing. I keep wondering why there aren’t better options yet.

I have AFib and CHF. I was on atenolol for many years with no problem. Now I'm on metopolol 100mg. twice a day. I don't notice any side effects except I can't seem to get going until around 11 a.m. I take about 10 pills daily so I don't know what causes the lethargy.

What is losartan for? Did you go through changes when you quit beta blocker? Thinking about going off as I'm still experiencing head heaviness, weird feeling in my head. A little dizziness, but atenolol is better than metoprpolol, thanks. I know you're not supposed to just stop beta blockers, did you wean off? I appreciate you responding, can I add you to my team, or maybe you can add me? Just joined😊

I never had any side effects from the Lopressor was on 100mg twice a day for probably 5-6 years for hypertension. Was prescribed by my pcp. When aFib reared her hind end and caused a stroke my interventional cardiologist referred me to an electrophysiologist who cut the dose in half because of dosage limits with aFib. Over the course of 4 years she changed it to the Toprol XL 100mg medication.

Nancy123. I just slowly weaned myself off..went to Google and asked the safe way to do it...I made a mistake saying hydrocodone..it is hydrochlorothiazide...and losartan..both for high blood pressure...the hydro. Is a diuretic (for fluid around heart)'' the metropolol is for high blood pressure too...supposed to also keep the brain from getting anxiety..
