I'm Wondering If Taking Your Meds Consistently, Watching What You Eat, And Exercise Like Walking, If Members That Do This See Improvement?

I have seen a lot of improvement in how I feel. I have been in stage 3 HF for a long time, about 5 years. I had an angina episode that put me in the hospital for a couple of days. I had been on vacation and did not take my diuretics and wasn't taking my insulin properly. Needless to say, I had a lecture from about 5 different specialists. OH my, I don't do that now. The last doppler test I had, they found excess fluid in the layers of my heart, which probably cause the issues I was having, which mimicked a heart attack. To ensure I had not had one, they also did a heart cath, which verified the doppler imaging. I had been on medication for chronic angina and had that attack anyway. This was mid-September, and I'm feeling a little better. I'm still having some tightness and palpitations in my chest every once in a while, but not severe, nor for a long period of time, so an improvement at this time. Watching what I eat and walking daily helps the most, along with taking the medications. It did take a while to come up with the right medication mix. I was also able to come completely off or lower 6 different medications after losing 60 pounds.

Keep marching on everyone. If you're not noticing any improvements after being on medications for at least 3 months, let your Dr. know. If they do nothing, like testing and stuff, or trying a different medication, find a different cardiologist.

Yes, but don't leave your cardiologist out of the equation.

Definitely!!!...I have 17% EF, pacemaker/defib installed, my left ventricle is in very bad shape. I refuse to let this keep me down. One year ago I could not walk a hundred feet, forget getting on my bike. I could only do about 35 seconds on a stair climber.

Also all the medications I'm on were giving me all of the classic side effects.

Today, one year later, after strict and regular exercise, good diet and quality rest. I can walk 611 meters (.38 miles) in 6 minutes. I ride my bike 3 miles in 16 minutes. I can do 5 minutes on the stair stepper. I have to do all of these keeping my heart rate under 130 bpm, that is the limit I have been given by my cardiologist.

Now my body is tolerating the medications, no extreme fatigue, constant headaches, and muscle pain.

I have been keeping a record of my progress. I constantly review it and set new goals within my ability. It has been a year of ups and downs with my rehab program, but I stick to it. Even small progress is progress!!

So stick to a program it will make you feel much better physically and mentally.
