Ok its been almost 1 year since my double by-pass. However, I keep having pains which are almost the same as what took me to have my heart surgery in the first place. Lately I feel the pains between my heart and my Sternum. Some real sharp and some not as sharp as others but very un-comfortable. been itching and feels like pressure and hurts to the touch. Is this NORMAL
Also at times I am short of breath, right side of my arm is hurting and numb and very heavy arms just wants to hang to one… read more

Hi Vince. As for the itching/tenderness of the surgery wound, that is normal and will take time to heal. Don't put anything on the wound as it needs to go through the process. I found it helpful to place my hand on the wound for a little bit and it settled down. It's like having your arm in a cast, it's going to itch and feel tender. It will get better.

Now, regarding the Angina (chest pain) shortness of breath, etc., these symptoms are NOT OK. After my triple by-pass I thought, OK, everything is fixed now and I'm good to go!! But, NO, I made an appointment with the best cardiologist in town and after the angioplasty, it was discovered that I have 7 other blockages!!!! Apparently, I have Coronary Artery Disease. Although the by-pass was necessary, it didn't resolve all my issues.

You may have some unresolved issues still going on with your heart. Get to the best cardiologist in your area and get further testing.

Wishing you the best!

Some of what you are describing I have also experienced… except for the shortness of breath , dizziness, etc. have you spoken to your heart surgeon or cardiologist?
The arm pain could be nerve issues.
Please don’t ask us , seek help with a medical professional.
Be well and keep us posted .😊
