Mitral Valve Surgery
I was supposed to have mitral valve surgery last July and doctors will not do it because of some bad teeth. My Doctor never even really mentioned it until I was waiting in the pre op room waiting for my surgery. I waited over 5 hours not knowing why my surgery was not happening. Then finally the cardiac surgeon came in and told me he had to do an emergency surgery in another patient and said you need to have some of your teeth removed. I had all my testing done. @A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member I know that heart health and dental health affect one another. I found this article that might help you answer your question. "Left untreated, bacteria in the mouth can travel through the bloodstream to the surgery site, causing complications such as infective endocarditis — a potentially life-threatening infection of the inner tissues of the heart, including the heart valves." So get to a dentist and get this sorted before having another go at the surgery.
