Open-heart surgery can be a significant and challenging experience, but many people undergo it successfully. Here are some key points from the knowledge base:

- Types of Open-Heart Surgery: Common types include coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) and heart valve repair or replacement.

Everyone's experience is different, and many find the surgery improves their quality of life significantly.
