It is not fun, but it is doable. I had major open heart surgery in 2014: aortic valve replacement, mitral valve repair, and an ablation called the Maze procedure. A doctor told me that post surgery I would feel 80 % recovered in 10-12 weeks. He was correct. He also told me that the last 20% would take a year. For me it was 14 months. Then I felt 100 %.
I have had six cabg, it was not as bad as I thought it would be.
