Is Having A Stent Placed Effective ,safe And Usually?

Just had a,CT angiogram done it showed moderate (50-69%) stenosis in mid LAD.I haven't seen my cardiologist yet and I have heard stents,are dangerous,and used too often.Has anyone had any experience they could share.I am so scared
