Did Anyone, After An Ablation, Have An Iatrogenic ASD? If So, Did It Heal, Or Did You Have To Have It Surgically Repaired?

A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question 💭

I just had a transesophageal echo to check the placement of the Watchman device and the report shows an Iatrogenic ASD (a hole in the septum between the left and the right atria) which was not there prior to the ablation (done at the same time as the Watchman) Just wondering how common this is and what are the long term effects. If not checking the Watchman, would probably not have known this had happened.

I’m presuming the ablation. They haven’t said.

Which procedure did they think caused the ASD...the ablation or the watchman?
