Those Of You Who Have Had TAVR...how Long Till You Recovered? What Was Your Experience?
That is really annoying! Ask him to explain exactly what is wrong with your heart and is there anything you can do about the shortness of breath. Also, it is always appropriate to get a second opinion when your questions are not being taken seriously.
I had my TAVR on January 2nd. When I woke up after the procedure I realized how much better my breathing was. I spent 2 nights in the hospital. I had very few restrictions when I was released. I did not use a wheelchair when I got out of the hospital. I walked to the parking garage with my husband as he had parked the car there. I just started cardiac rehab this week and am doing great.
Recovery was nothing. Couple days felt almost normal.
Thanks Elizabeth. I'm probably looking at having to have this procedure as my aortic valve is leaking a lot worse. Will have another Echo in May. That will tell the rale.
Hi Ivey, hope you are well. I've had 2 TAVRs. Both for the aortic valve. Once you have 2 you can't have anymore currently. TAVR is so much easier. I was sent home in a few days with stipulation not to lift, etc for awhile and I couldn't drive for awhile but otherwise it worked out well. Be careful what you eat as this can affect the valve, high fevers can affect it as well as not getting enough sleep and watch the blood pressure. I'm on the DASH diet for blood pressure and no sugar of any kind. Hope this helps!
