Are You Frustrated With Finding Effective Treatments For Heart Disease?
No, I have always had good medical care and treatment. Sometimes we have to accept that we have reached the limit of what can be done at the moment but we can never lose hope that the future will bring new and exciting treatments (I am living proof of that). Cardiac care advances quickly and there are new wonderful possibilities just around the corner.
Last year in June yes...After an out of the blue cardiac arrest/cpr I survived but woke up to docs who wanted open-heart surgery and said if I didn't do it I would die in a day. I said no. I discharged myself from the hospital. Then, a top cardio doc in my small town called an UC Davis top heart surgeon and 3 mo. later...stents/Impella. I owe my life to these two doctors who got the right treatment for me. Today, one year later, I am back mind-body. A few heart meds (minus statins) and it's like this horrific chapter in my life never happened. Blessed twice. Regarding cardiac rehab: I was told to do it but...Covid was still active in my town and due to our snowy winter I chose to exercise myself in the comfort of my home. It felt safer. And now, walking, rowing machine, weights, cleaning, gardening works for me.
Your heart is a muscle pumping blood throughout your body. You must lose weight and step up your cardio workout. I did and 3 years after my heart attack, I am off all meds except aspirin and cholesterol pills.
I had open heart valve surgery, and an ablation to correct A-fib. The most important sentence I learned to say was 'I need a 2nd opinion'. Even if you are not happy with the medications you are taking, talk to another doctor.
I have been very fortunate to have an amazing team caring for me.
