How Many Of You Are Pacemaker Dependent?
I have had a pacemaker for 13 years. I have atrial fibrillation in addition to bradycardia. I have had a maze procedure for AFib and a left atrial appendage removal during multi valve replacement open heart surgery. I have continued to go into AFib despite all the antiarrhythmic drugs I am on. Somewhere after that, I had a silent heart attack. Had a central vein ablation in November as I started cresting at being in AFib 65% of the time. Obtained sinus with two additional cardio versions. In December I was told it was not if it will come back, it is when. I eeked upward again in mid-March and in Mid-May hit 100% of the time with lots of palpitations. My last recourse is to have an AV Node ablation which will make me 100% dependent on the pacemaker. Just wondered if other's are and how it may have benefitted their lives. I am 67 somewhat scared. I am having this done Wednesday.
Hi Beverly,
I do not have a pacemaker. My Cardiologist and EP do not feel I need one as my heart rate although lower than 60 is averaging 50's awake and 40's asleep. I am asymptomatic when it comes to being dizzy.
No thank you:)
