Has Anyone Been In Continues Afib For More Than Six Months But Only Aware Of It From Time To Time?

A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question 💭
San Diego, CA

Since my ICD was replaced last January, I have been in afib but only have occasional symptoms. I only learn of it when I see my cardiologist to check my device and that's about every three months. I get frustrated every time I see my cardiologist ,he tells me in every visit that I'm in afib.
Considering a cardio version to get my sinus rhythm back to normal.

Goldengal, I'm confused. You have a implantable cardioverter-defibrillator, a small battery-powered device placed in the chest but fear a cardio-version? I was diagnosed with A-Fib years ago, immediately given drugs and a cardio-version, the paddles and a shock and I've been "normal sinus rhythm ever since. I bought a Kardia Mobile device and check daily, sometimes multiple times. Consider? The medical/industrial complex doesn't make money if you aren't sick? In other news. I didn't present with all the heart disease symptoms until the medical/industrial complex ordered the pharmacology. It seems indications of heart disease are side affects of the drugs for heart disease?

Hi Golden Gal, it seems that my AFib is on all the time. I have a Boston Scientific ICM inserted, and when I see my EP's, one here in Boston area and one in California, they tell me I'm at 70% of the time. I feel it occasionally, and know that I have to do the things that keep it at bay. Breathing exercises, someplace quiet, no physical exertion. Cardio versions have not worked so far(4),and because of my dextrocardia they are not accepting the idea of an ablation.
I'm thinking they feel 70% is livable, why mess with it. We're moving to California permanently, so I will pursue the ablation out there.

I’ve.had A Fib for 15 years. It is quite treatable by your cardio docs. I’ve had 2 cardioversions, AV node ablation, and ICD implant. I also have cardiomyopathy which (in my case) is progressive. I was a college athlete and exercised and very active throughout my life. I’m 79 years old and have and very little endurance. My last cardio test reported my Ejection Fraction (EF) at 23. I still exercise at home and go to the gym to walk the treadmill 4-5 days a week.
