This test sounds scary but is routine and doctors are on hand. I’ve had 3 in the past 14 years. Two as part of a routine physical and the last to see if I had anything more than Afib. After the injection you do some exercises then the scan. You can drive yourself home right after.

I am having my first nuclear stress test this coming Wednesday. I am concerned that this test may impact and increase my heart rate which is currently controlled with meds for AFIB

A nuclear stress test, also known as myocardial perfusion imaging, is a procedure that shows how well blood flows through the heart muscle and how well the heart is pumping. Here are some key points:

- Procedure: Involves injecting radioactive materials, or tracers, that mix with blood and are absorbed by the heart muscle as blood flows through the arteries.
- Imaging: A special camera takes pictures of the heart to show areas that aren’t getting enough blood flow.
- Purpose: Helps identify areas of the heart with poor blood flow and assess the heart's pumping function.

Lexiscan (regadenoson) is a medication often used during a nuclear stress test to increase blood flow to the heart, simulating the effects of exercise for those unable to physically exert themselves.
