I Have Just Been Told I Have CHF. Wondering What Lies Ahead. I Am Short Of Breath . Can’t Walk Very Far. Hard To Do Inclines.
Has anyone had CHD for more than 5 years?
Helen, I have had it for almost 10 years now and I do my best to take care of myself to keep it from getting worse. I have left-side (diastolic) heart failure and my heart pumps okay but is stiff and does not fill. I have the same symptoms as you but not as many options for treatment. I walk most days (less now that I need a pacemaker) and have some shortness of breath. Some days will be worse than others and you should exercise as much as you can. Stretching or chair yoga is a good thing to keep your body in shape without taxing your heart as much and causing the SOB. I struggle with inclines too so I try my best to walk on level ground whenever possible. That is tough because I live in a very hilly area but I find places like the park to walk. I also bought a stationary bike and ride that is much easier on me than walking and helps keep me fit. Do what you can and eat a low-salt diet, take the meds and slowly you will feel better. Like I said, some days will be better, others not so much. Rest on the days that you need to and do what you can when you can. I am doing pretty well despite the heart failure. I hope this helps and I am here to talk if you need me. Hugs🤗
I meant chf spell correct corrected me again
I've had cut since 2019. At times I'm also tired and anxious. I take one day at a time. I still try to stay active.
Thank you. I have great trust in the Lord,
I've had my heart failure for 15 years now, and I get those same symptoms, I also have afib, which is the one that bothers me the most. There's a good day and challenging day, but the Lord always sustains.
Do Any Of You Still Have Shortness Of Breath Despite Meds?
Who Deals With Shortness Of Breath? How Do You Handle It? Does Anything Make It Better Or Worse?
