I have stage 4 kidney disease. As we age, our kidneys don't function at 100% with heart meds or not.

@A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member,
Any patients with a chronic condition especially heart condition due to the medications we take will never have a normal eGFR. But the test can't be used on us as an indication of kidney failure.
Here there is always a note stating that it is a false reading for anyone with a chronic condition. Being heart patients none of us will ever pass a eGFR kidney function test because of our heart medications. Mine is 30-35 and I don't have any form of kidney failure, they are fully functioning. The medications we take effect the reading and you shouldn't worry about it unless your doctor tells you it is a problem. It isn't a very valid form of testing.

My kidney functions declined slightly over a month ago and we scheduled another lab test for the next month. I did two things while waiting for the next lab test:
(1) I I increased my hydration.
(2) I eliminated animal protein and started a vegetarian diet.
I am 80 old, and of course my kidneys are 80 years old. When I did research and asked what I could do, one suggestion was reduce animal protein.
My kidney function’s returned to normal in a month.
Taking care of this aging body has become a full time job!
I wish everyone success in your efforts to become well!
