Sam thank you...is it still working for you? I am so scared
Hi Talloven,
For me it was Dofetilide (Tikosyn), it was an antiarrhythmic medication to control the rhythm of your heart. The reason given to me was that it affects the QT wave of your heart and has to stay within certain parameters for you to use the medication. What they did was to give me a dose and then 2 hours later then would do an EKG. The doctor would measure the wave to ensure that it didn't exceed a certain amount. Of course I was taking other medications that also affected that QT wave. This was done over a 3 day period for me and every 12 hours I would be given a dose and two hours after the dose an EKG was done.
I will keep a good thought in and pray all works out. Kay8
Talloven,
I am no longer on Dofetilide. My Cardiologist had me stop it after 4 months after my ablation. Wore a holter monitor for two weeks to see if I had AFIB. I had PAC's and PVC's not excessive amounts. They are premature heartbeats. If they were excessive he would have prescribed a beta blocker. So every doctor will tell you to continue meds after an ablation for XXX amount of time. Keep a good thought!!
