How Is Permanent Afib Treated, Does It Change Back To Normal Sinus Rhythm After Awhile On Its Own?
I have afib and chf. Had an ablitaton 2 years . All is good .
Permanent AFib does not revert to a normal sinus rhythm on its own, even with treatment. Instead, it is managed with medications like beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers, or digoxin to control heart rate, and blood thinners to prevent clots and reduce stroke risk. The focus is on managing symptoms and complications Show Full Answer
I had intermittent afib until it reared it's hind end and caused a stroke then it became persistant afib. Multiple meds tried and multiple cardioversions done to no avail. Put me on dofilitide still here kept me on it and did an ablation with 3d mapping after a year and a half took me off the meds and 6 years later I remain in sinus rhythm, less than a 0.01% afib, according to my ep less than 1% is afib free.
Hi Steve, I'm glad that you're doing better, take care, stay well. Have a merry Christmas.
Hi Sam, I had Dofilitide(tikosyn before, didn't work for me.
I'm taking digoxin, diltiazem and atenolol for heart rate control..most of the time I don't have the afib symptoms. My heart rate has been under control.
Thank you for the response, stay well 🙏.
