A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question 💭

1. Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICDs): These are small, battery-powered devices implanted under the skin. They detect life-threatening arrhythmias and can emit low-energy pulses or high-energy shocks to restore normal heart rhythm. Some ICDs also have pacing functions.

2. Pacemaker-Defibrillator Combos: These devices combine the functions of a pacemaker (to regulate slow heart rhythms) and a defibrillator (to correct dangerous arrhythmias).

3. Leadless ICDs: These are newer, smaller devices implanted directly into the heart without wires, offering similar functions to traditional ICDs.
