How Much Sodium Do You Consume Per Day?
I've been keeping my sodium level at 1500mg/day or less. Just wondering how that compares to other people that have heart failure.
Simi, So great. The Daniel Plan is a super nutrition program. Sound principals … facts and faith. I wish you all the best. Daily Hope. GOD bless.
Ron, My intel so far is that optimum sodium level is different for everyone. My surgeon told me to limit to no more than 2000/day. My heart surgery was about 15 weeks ago. That 2000 limit was a tough adjustment to make but i did it. My Cadiologist ordered a full blood panel about 6 weeks post-op and all the numbers came back great. He said if the numbers remain good for the next six months he sees no reason not to increase the limit to 3000mg/day. I’m aware the body needs some sodium to function. I don’t think I’d go up to 3000 even if the doctor told me to. I’ve grown used to limiting. Never realized before the hidden amount of sodium in so many foods. I try to maintain a daily level that works for me and when I desire the occasional treat I go for it.
Best of luck with your progress. Stay well and enjoy every moment.
Sometimes I ate that much but started to fill up and coughed up every morning. I try 600 to 800. 65 for breakfast. I Have 1 pepsi, 1 diet pepsi and unsalted cashews. For lunch I have a salad w no salt french dressing, tomato carrot, sometimes an egg. For supper I think 325 is too much. I snack. Popsicles. I love potatoes but am overweight. We grill steak sometimes. I buy Heinz no salt ketchup.
I am following the Daniel Plan in my private group. ( adding no salt to my diet. )
