AFIB...Do Blood Thinners And Beta Blockers Really Help,,,a Nurse Suggested To Stay Away From Them.
I am so confused with my research. Most of my readings suggest AFIB will not kill you. However strokes (more likely than not) will kill you. Many cardiologists said I would die within 3 years without the pills. I took them for three days and ended up in emerg. and refused to take pills at all. I take suppliments instead. Am I better off??? Dont know. Do I feel well...absolutely! But is it the suppliements? diet? exercise that is really helping? Three years later, I am feeling tired now… read more
Wow I think he paid to say that to you. Your Doctor because my Doctor tell me so, he so good in sharing with me. I say fire him find a new Doctor. If you in a practice with a bunch of Doctors that might be useful. If I were you I wouldn't lean into that thought. He trying to use his authority over you nah! You got the wallet and keys smile as you wave by by Dr..
Stert taking Garlic, cinnamon, turmeric, lemon, and eat some chillies with your food,. I stopped all my tablets for Afib all they did was make me feel shit At R2000 per month for things that make you feel bad I am taking these things for the last 9 months, the LORD protects me,
I don't have any answers for you however I can certainly empathize with you. I really dislike when doctors give a time line as I know not once has it been accurate! Keep going the Holistic route. You know when something feels right, trust your own instincts. Sending hugs
Judy, I have some answers for you. I have afib (for the past 10 years), and I will be 70 in May. Afib will not kill you but it is a progressive disease (meaning it will get worse over time) and might result in a stroke. Afib makes you feel tired and worn out because your heart is beating chaotically. Diet and exercise along with medication are necessary to live a quality life as long as possible. Let me explain about the pills.
The reason they prescribe anticoagulants aka, blood thinners is not to prevent Afib but the risk of stroke that Afib may cause. Afib causes blood to sit in the heart and results in the clotting of that blood. Those clots can move, and if they move to your brain, that results in a stroke. Not everyone who has afib needs blood thinners. However, most of us at this age do. It depends on your risk for stroke which your cardiologist will calculate based on your family history and your current health. Remember high cholesterol and high blood pressure are risk factors for heart attack and stroke. Only you and your doctor can weigh that risk. If you are at risk, and you don't want to take blood thinners ask the doctor if you are a good candidate for a Watchman. this device can be implanted into the heart to prevent clotting. If you go that route you will not need blood thinners. Here is a link to read more about it. https://www.watchman.com/en-us/how-watchman-dev...
Beta Blockers are used to control the irregular rhythm of Afib. They help to keep the heart in a regular rhythm and from going into AFIB in the early stages of the disease. Which might be enough for a good long time. Not everyone's afib progresses at the same rate.
In the beginning stages of Afib, a combination of supplements may be enough to control it. Do your research and be sure you are getting good quality supplements (remember they are not controlled by the FDA) It worked for me for about a year or so but my Afib has progressed way beyond that point now. https://a-fib.com/treatments-for-atrial-fibrill...
None of these medications or Afib will cause you not to wake up. Seriously though, at our age, there is a real possibility that we won't wake up one day anyway. 😉You won't die without these pills but you sure won't feel well and your quality of life won't be as good for a long. To my mind, a stroke is much worse than a handful of pills. That said, we all have to make our own choices and I will support whatever choice you decide to make. If you have more questions. just ask. Hugs🤗
Judy, Your body will tell you what is best for you. We have had conversations similar to this on several occasions with me having that fear. Just do what you are doing and keep up on your research. Cardiologists as a whole tend to think of themselves as "demigods that know everything; we are just poor saps that don't know anything (how dare us to challenge THEIR diagnosis or treatment plan!) which is furthest from the truth, they are humans just like the rest of us; with the same failings as the rest of us, just their ego's are substantially bigger than most..
