Two Different Diseases Simultaneously…
Many of us have two or more medical problems. Example cardiac problems and diabetes. Doctors give their best medical advice based on their specialty field. Has anyone ever received conflicting advice based on having more than one medical problem? How do you make it sit right in your head?
Everything in moderation is the only way we can go. I can’t avoid sodium but I’m told I must. Fried foods are a no no for both my heart and control of colitis. Sugar is a no no because I’m already pre diabetic. It sure takes the fun out of eating and makes me yearn for the good old days when I was young and ate anything and everything I desired! 😢
Yes I have Addisons and Hashimoto’s with Hypothyroidism and then there’s my heart with CHF, afib and a pacemaker. One illness says pickles and salt and the other low salt. It’s all very confusing to say the least.
Sam, I have been taking chlorathalidone (sp!) for a few years for BP control and diuretic. I forgot I was told that if I was taking a Lasix to not take chlorthalidone that day. But now they have me taking Lasix every day (10 mg) so I’ve dropped the chlorthaladone (I’ve tried three ways spelling that drug and they’re all wrong! I’ll go back and look at your post!)
I totally get it I have chf and low ef plus diabetes . One says heart healthy diet and the other says no carbs or sugars. I also on warming to much meat raises cholesterol. So which diet do o follow. Everything had salt, sugar, or carbs green veggies have vitamin k and meat gives high cholesterol.
I had a small bowel obstruction last year. Didn't need surgery. The surgeon said high fiber diet. My PCP said low fiber diet. I went to my gastroenterologist for his opinion. He said high fiber diet which is online with my heart healthy diet.
