Wow! There are some great answers to the question you presented😳 I want to share something that an older lady shared with me! She has had CF since she was in her 30's
She is now in her 90's ! We met at heart rehab! She said that she had been through 3 heart attacks 3 bypasses 2 ablations 7stints and a Valve donated by a Pig😃And she said she had never enjoyed Bacon more😉 She was so funny! I was concerned because I wasn't given the best odds! She told me to stand naked in front of my bathroom mirror😝I was so confused,I asked why should I do such a thing? She said to look for an expiration date!! I burst out laughing 😂 But she is right only God and God alone knows when we will take our last breath! And when we worry about such things it takes away from having a real life❤She is now 95
And still has Bacon for Breakfast, still driving a car still digging in her garden...
God Bless Her...
And May God Bless You🙏❤

Hi CalOrey,
I know how you feel and I normally tell people only part. I suffered an AMI/ STEMI widowmaker with massive irreversible progressive damage. I didn't die just one time but I died three times that day. I arrived that morning at 7:30 am and my cardiologist worked on me from that point until until after 3pm that afternoon. I was down for over 15 minutes at three different times, my family was told I wouldn't survive the day. I walked out of the hospital 3 1/2 days later I walked out of the hospital. I went back to work full-time 30 days later and worked 4 years before I just came out on disability. I am not willing to see myself as sick. I've been in
stage D CHF for 12 years 8 months and I'm still going strong.
Take care,
Robin

Your attitude is inspiring. After dying from a heart attack last mo. brought back 15 min. later I sort of sounded like you. But the more docs I talk to the more down I'm getting. As a health author/health nut with a just discovered failing heart it's surreal. And it seems like open heart surgery may not be the curtain to choose because of the risks. Heart meds is what I chose but a cardiologist looked at my xrays and I swear he was watching the San Andreas let loose. Tick tock.God brought me back for a reason...I got the family back into calm mode but now what?

Hi Karen,
Your spirit is as great mine and exercise is a good part of our maintaining a good quality of life. I find that if I keep my feet in closed in shoes it lessen the swelling and if you're sitting for any period of time prop them up on the couch or a stool. But it appears you got this under control. I come from a family with longevity and I'm planning to be here another 30 years. The thing people do when told they have heart issues is give up on themselves.

I loss my mom in December at the young age of 94. She suffered a HA when I was 12 and was hospitalized for three months. She lived her life to the fullest and saw 5 generations of her family. I don't plan on going anywhere. I don't look for miracles and have a strong faith in God. But I see life a different way. I'm very educated and have three conferred degrees but I have a slightly different view. The population is much greater then when this old earth began and man has grown in knowledge as well as number and God gave them the ability to learn and taught them how to help themselves. I believe that if he had wanted mankind to lay down and die because they broke their leg He wouldn't have given man the knowledge to fix it. I know I need a transplant but I know that they may never find one because of my rare blood type. But if I'm given the choice I will take a mechanical one. The strangest thing I've ever heard was when I woke one night hearing a strong heart beat that wasn't mine but the A-ICD that was implanted four days earlier. It was pacing me. I thanked God for science and doctors.
Take care,
Robin

Karen I would guess it depends on the person taking care of themselves, no doctor can tell you how long you will live with heart disease, my uncle been around for the last few years with ♥ disease and no one in family knew & he is in his mid 70's and very active ,we don't stress over death we just njoy living ,one thing for sure every human on this planet will die ,when & how we don't no only GOD has that answer so for now just njoy life ,family and friends.
