Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) is indeed an inherited disease where a person's body doesn't properly eliminate low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, often referred to as "bad cholesterol." This condition leads to high levels of LDL cholesterol from birth. People with FH typically have LDL levels over 190 milligrams per deciliter, significantly higher than the normal level of less than 100 milligrams per deciliter. This can increase the risk of heart attacks and strokes at a young age.
