Osteopathic medicine! Our bodies & souls are all interconnected, I have chosen DO's since 1989. I think the major take away from this excellent presentation is that our bodies are not for a "specialist" physician but a delicate, complicated and miraculous machine that must work as a whole? Thanks for this informative video!

As a kid and into college I was a serious competitive athlete in several sports. I ate to maintain my weight and add muscle so became aware of how eating this volume including high protein could affect the body. The stomach is only the start of digestion followed by great length of intestine which is a chemical factor requiring a great deal of energy and body resources. A big meal made me tired and weaker for hours. I started taking betaine hydrochloride with pepsin, acidophilus and pineapple to aid digestion and absorb more protein. It worked well for me for many years an into adult life. Some of the additional things I’ve successfully used are pantothenic acid, probiotics, digestive enzymes, apple cider vinegar and sauerkraut. I’ll probably think of a few more as I eat. Most doctors are not that knowledgeable on this topic.

If you decide to experiment, research, check with your doctor, go slow and keep a log. I no longer eat large meals so don’t have the same needs but do take probiotics, apple cider vinegar, aloe Vera and eat well for health. I’ve maintained a healthy adult weight of between 218 and 228 and took off 1.5 pounds a year after 60. I got back to my high school weight this summer. If I get ambitious I may shoot for that old waist size. Eat healthy and enjoy.
