Cliff,
Thanks for the link. Never thought that AFIB was a progressive disease but it does make sense. My Cardiologist said I had a successful ablation but I will always have AFIB and that it never goes away. The ablation is no cure it just a temporary halt in symptoms. You can prolong that "Halt" by exercising, no drinking, no smoking, good diet and praying to God. Thanks for sharing
Thanks, Cliff, this is a great follow-up to the study article you posted. It has the same recommendations as the other article. Afib is a progressive disease and lifestyle changes are key to staying as healthy as possible.
Yeah My Cardiologist did mention this was a progressive disease but if you get treatment earlier than later you can keep most symptoms at bay. Ie Ablation. My ablation was successful as I am now able to work and live life with minimal symptoms. Controlled with a pacemaker, Eliquis and Metoprolol for my BP and to keep the chest pain away (if any). Before my ablation I could not walk 10 feet w/o being out of breath and tired having to stop to catch my breath. They tried me on Amidarone first. NOPE did not reset my heart to normal sinus rhythm. It was horrible. So scheduled me for ablation. While on the table for my ablation, I did go into Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Reason is unknown why there was nothing in the tests or labs to indicate an issue. I guess my heart just did not like the procedure. However the pacemaker an abbot dual lead keeps me safe and ticking like a timex watch at a range of 60-70bpm. I have 8 yrs battery life left and feel great. No issues since 2022. I caught Covid and then a month later diag with Afib.when i went to Urgent care for an update on the Covid and still feeling crappy after 3 weeks. My urgent care sent me to the local ER (which is across the street from my practice - as a radiology scheduling coordinator. Blessed to be here.
