@A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member....I have been using Olive oil for years now and my cholesterol is (normal!) now! It is very good to cook with. I can have something fried now and then and not feel afraid!

I disagree with AI’s assessment of coconut oil. This is old 1980’s thinking. Olive oil is excellent but not as stable, has shorter shelf life and requires a higher quality oil for cooking. We have all 3 in our kitchen, eat lots of avocados and guacamole but use mostly coconut oil for cooking. Also for dental health by oil pulling, as an anti inflammatory, for energy and weight control. Please do your own research, ask any questions and choose what is best for you.

I am very happy for you that you use coconut oil and you have no known effects from it. My arteries are very clogged. My open heart surgery and high cholesterol are no joke . I will not eat coconut oil. It has more saturated fat than butter. It saddens me that a lot of plant based cheeses are made with coconut oil. So, yes, it is a great non dairy alternative, but not so great for the body and heart.

I know a lot of people who do not understand basic nutrition. Heart disease is the number one killer in the world, not just the US.

Too many young people are having heart problems . The food we eat matters .

I am not on social media , I believed this site was medical /science based. I don’t want to hear about quack science and snake oil salesmen.
I will probably delete my account on this site.
