A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question 💭
Roswell, GA

This is an interesting article that I wanted to share with you all. The future looks promising for children born with heart valve defects. That day remains years away but has moved considerably closer to reality now that scientists have compiled an advanced “atlas” of human heart valve formation to guide future research. It is exciting new research and worth the read. Thanks to Adam Pick for sharing this month's Heart Valve Surgery Newsletter.

Repeat Open Heart Valve Replacement Surgery

A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question 💭
Torrance, CA

Has anyone had a redo sternotomy to replace a calcified mitral valve?
This is because they can't replace a mitral valve through a TAVR procedure in the USA yet. There are clinical trials ongoing, but they are very selective on picking the right candidates. Asking as Iam facing this situation (open heart again) and am told that it is high risk, ie. 80 % sucess rate average. Your comments please. Thank you.
