Ejection Fraction

A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

Once you get your Ejection Fraction up to a certain number through diet and exercise can it go down again? I'm currently suffering from depression, anxiety, and OCD and don't have much of an appetite (I lost about 15 pounds) and find it hard to get any exercise. Am I ruining the improvements I've made since my heart attack? It's difficult to fight every illness at once.

Spogmama, I am sorry you are going through the depression and anxiety episode. I also suffer sometimes from the same, I had it before my artery tear; which my Cardiologist said help contributed to the attack. I hope you try hard to get some help for your depression, for worry and anxiety is not good for our heart. I hope you try to eat anyway and exercise for it help our ejection fraction. My ejection was just 15% after my attack and surgery had to get a defibrillator, with exercise and diet it went 40% (still HF) for normal is over 50%. I had covid a month ago and Praying it didn't affect my heart and EF at my next Echo in March. I was told by my Cardiologist it can go up and down, depending on your function and other issues. I hope you start to improve your emotional health for your heart's sake. I really know how hard it is to go through our heart journey and not be depressed. Blessings to you. Stay πŸ’ͺ
