Hi Scott,
When I was on only a plant based diet, didn't eat anything that had a Mother or eyes, I did reduce my LDL to 115 on diet alone, but still wasn't at goal and was deficient in B12 and Iodine. So had supplementation to help in that. I decided to add one piece of baked COD per week. I reluctantly started Repatha to try and reach the goal of LDL 70 or lower. But still couldn't attain the goal. The side effects 🙁 Repatha made me stop. I did notice better blood pressure and I had heart cath's in 2019 with no intervention so I am thinking it helped my arteries. It's now 2024 and I am taking Praluent and my LDL is 77, good on triglycerides 120, HDL 46 (not high enough) overall total cholesterol 147 which is good. I have added sardines twice a week to add to my COD. I do on special occasions have either chicken, lamb, or pork. Probaby 10 meals a year. I would say a plant based diet could reverse but it won't happen overnight. Wish you well!!
