Why did the doctor think you need a calcium cat scan? Regarding having your arteries cleaned, I think if you don't have evidence of a pending heart attack (stroke) or an actual related condition, it is considered preventative and optional which is not covered by insurance. I am not 100 percent certain.

The dr. And I were both wl so excited that I had loss 35 pounds and was able to get off all my meds, the conversation arose in passing so I decided to take the scan. I figured $99 was minor to pay for prevention! You see I had a sister that passed from heart disease 4 yrs ago. Now I wanted to understand why the doctors don't want to do corrective surgery instead they advised me to keep exercising. My cholesterol is 155 total and my LDL is 77..It's been almost two weeks since I had the blood work done and I can't seem to get the Dr. To call me back to inform of the next step.

Can I have surgery to clean arteries? I was told that I would have to wait until I have a heart attack before something can be done.
