A mini stroke, also known as a transient ischemic attack (TIA), requires immediate medical attention. Here are the steps to take:

1. Recognize Symptoms: Symptoms of a TIA are similar to those of a stroke and come on suddenly. These include:
- Sudden severe headache
- Vision problems
- Trouble speaking or understanding
- Paralysis or numbness of the face, arm, or leg
- Trouble walking

2. Use the FAST Acronym:
- Face: Check if one side of the face is drooping.
- Arms: See if the person can raise both arms or if one drifts down.
- Speech: Listen for slurred or strange speech.
- Time: Call 911 immediately if any of these signs are present.

3. Call 911: Do not wait to see if symptoms go away. Immediate medical help is crucial.

4. Note the Time: Pay attention to when symptoms begin, as this information is vital for first responders.

5. Do Not Drive: Emergency medical personnel can start life-saving treatments on the way to the hospital.

Early treatment can significantly improve the quality of life after a TIA or stroke.
